Zine

For my zine I decided to create a sound map. Moving to the Netherlands it is my chance to live of my own without my family and the strict and toxic Greek society as a result I start to notice things that I wast able to understand in Greece. One of them is my lack of understanding sounds. When I am outside I dont understand sounds I just hear a noise in the background. This noise sometimes works like an under painting, I use the noisy environment as area to think about something or I become overwhelmed by the noise. If I want to hear specific sounds I have to think about it. So I decided to record the sounds that makes me to feel something and then follow it until it stops. Then I document the place and write my experience and analyse what I felt.

After the sound map, I want to create a zine that represent the noise I listen. So, cut the white part of my notes in order to my notes be transparent. Then I printed my notes as a sticker. I want my notes to be a sticker because I view the red line of the sticker as an empty area. Then I put above the sticker pictures of the place in a not covering paper. Above the not covering paper I put a transparent plastic paper in order to create a 3D effect of the picture. By having two layers of the picture the picture starts to be unclear and by having the notes above it starts to be noisy.

Before having the idea for the sound map I make a little zine in one class which I I repeat topics about myself without understanding . Even though I left the places I was traumatized by I thinking about them over and over again and I create things based to things I used to do to be happy back then. I decided to stop continuing repeat myself by make a zine which I emphasis on the things I repeat.

After founding these maps I started to think to create on visual map and place if as a cover for my zine. I place yarn in my table in order to create a straight surface and then put details above. I want create a map that portrayed the sounds I listen in the place I work. Some areas are quite when the others are extremely noisy, it has many buttons that make so annoying sounds. So I want my map to have a lot of details in some parts.

Even though I enjoy making it and seems beautiful visually my idea is not visible enough.

While making the zine I create a soundmap which I note the the area I record the sound. Then I upload the sound to a sound app and place the link in the description.

Because the previous soundmap it didn't work I place all the sounds together making another version of the soundmap. I consider it as a map because every sound is following the other like the lines and directions in the maps.
